Question
On a VFR sectional chart, you see an airport symbol that is magenta with the letter "U" inside a circle. What does that tell you?
Answer
The landing area is unverified. It is available for public use, but pilots should use caution because there is a lack of current information on the field conditions and/or the available information shows peculiar operating limitations. (Source: Aeronautical Chart User's Guide, twelfth edition.)
Got a question for our aviation services staff? The AOPA Pilot Information Center is a service available to all members as part of the annual dues. Contact AOPA. |
