AOPA Southern Regional Manager Bob Minter will participate in the Southeast Aviation Expo Sept. 26 and 27 at South Carolina’s Greenville Downtown Airport. The event is being produced by the South Carolina Aviation Association (SCAA).
Members are encouraged to attend the event. The expo will provide pilots from around the southern region a showcase of the latest products on the market and also offer education on products being marketed.
The event, open to anyone interested in aviation, costs $5 to attend. SCAA members can attend for free, and the Greenville Jet Center will provide free tiedowns and fuel discounts for fly-in attendees.
The expo is the only pilot-focused trade show in South Carolina. Workshops available to attendees include an air traffic control Q-and-A session, single-pilot safety, an ADS-B update, iPads in the cockpit, and making the transition to glass panels. Exhibitors include AOPA, Cessna, the Greenville Jet Center, Piper, MzeroA.com, ForeFlight, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Just Aircraft’s Super STOL will provide a demonstration at the expo. The aircraft can take off in 300 feet. The aircraft is designed and produced in Walhalla, South Carolina.
On Sept. 27, the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Chapter 249 of Greenville will offer 100 youths free flights through the Young Eagles program. On the same day, a special Pilots N Paws air caravan containing rescued animals will depart from the Greenville Downtown Airport as part of the expo. The animals will be delivered to new homes and non-kill shelters across the country.
