Members of the National Conference of State Legislatures will learn about the economic impact general aviation has on jobs and the economy at the local, state, and national levels during a webinar May 1.
California Assemblyman Jim Patterson, co-chair of the California General Aviation Caucus, an AOPA member and pilot, and Selena Shilad, executive director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America, will speak about the importance of GA during the webinar, “Planes, Pilots, and Positives: General Aviation’s Effects Across the Economy.”
The webinar will highlight the different facets of GA, including agricultural operations, medical flights, firefighting, disaster relief, and more. Additionally, the presenters will make state legislators aware that GA contributes an estimated 1.2 million jobs nationwide and contributes about $150 billion to the U.S. economy each year.
“It’s important for state lawmakers to truly understand the important role general aviation plays in their state so that they can make better-informed decisions when addressing issues that affect GA,” said Jared Esselman, AOPA director of state advocacy. “We thank the National Conference of State Legislatures and Alliance for Aviation Across America for spearheading this educational effort.”
AOPA members can watch a recorded version of the webinar, which will be made available after the live session.
