The FAA has for 40 years been gathering data from general aviation pilots about how they fly, information that helps shape policy and improve safety. Aircraft owners (including Part 135 operators) can expect their survey invitation to arrive within the coming week by mail or email.
The FAA has hired independent research firm Tetra Tech to conduct the survey, which can be completed online in about 10 to 15 minutes. (Those who prefer paper can request a copy by mail, along with a postage-paid return envelope.)
Data about GA activity gathered through the survey also informs policy decisions about allocation of resources for infrastructure and services provided to the GA community, so having a complete picture benefits everyone. All survey responses remain confidential, and information gathered is used only to develop statistics.
Previous years’ survey results are available on the FAA's website. For more information contact Tetra Tech toll-free at 800-826-1797 or by email.
