Annual GA survey arriving soon

The FAA has hired independent research firm Tetra Tech to conduct the survey, which can be completed online in about 10 to 15 minutes. (Those who prefer paper can request a copy by mail, along with a postage-paid return envelope.)

The survey seeks to develop an accurate picture of overall GA activity including hours flown across the fleet, a statistic that is crucial to accurately measuring accident rates and trends. The owners of aircraft that did not log any hours in 2017 are urged to participate nonetheless, because a high response rate increases accuracy. That includes aircraft that were sold, damaged, or not flown for other reasons.

Data about GA activity gathered through the survey also informs policy decisions about allocation of resources for infrastructure and services provided to the GA community, so having a complete picture benefits everyone. All survey responses remain confidential, and information gathered is used only to develop statistics.
