Final Exam
Question

There are thousands of aircraft out there with transponders, but the owners have decided not to equip with ADS-B Out. Can they still use the transponder after the equipage deadline or is it essentially a boat anchor?
Answer
Yes, use of the transponder is still required (it must have a current FAR 91.413 check), but pilots flying these aircraft will have to stay out of all ADS-B rule airspace including all Class B airspace, the Mode C veils around Class B airspace, and all Class C airspace. Join the discussion >
