High dust at High Sierra
High dust at High Sierra
Thousands of pilots gathered at the High Sierra Fly-In, sometimes called "Burning Man for pilots," for a weekend of fun and STOL Drag Racing at the Dead Cow lakebed near Reno, Nevada, in mid-October. AOPA Senior Photographer Mike Fizer photographed this taildragger kicking up some dust at a previous event. Follow @flywithAOPA on Instagram to see more photos from AOPA members and staff.
Final Exam
Question

If two fully qualified pilots fly together and share the load of piloting and alternating controls, who can log pilot in command time?
Answer
If two pilots are taking turns flying, so to speak, then whoever is sole manipulator of the flight controls can log the PIC time. However, for other operations, such as simulated instrument flight in visual meteorological conditions, the answer depends on the situation (see this AOPA article and this Boldmethod article for additional information.)
