Question

Can sumped fuel be put back into the fuel tanks if it is clean? Is there a risk that doing so could reintroduce contaminants?
Answer
A GATS jar is a great way to check fuel and separate out particulate and water contamination, allowing you to return sampled fuel to your tank safely. GATS jars are available from many online pilot and aircraft supply outlets. Otherwise, put the samples in the airport's dump can—some airports use this fuel to run the grass mowers.
