Question of the Week
Question

Are pilots required to use three different types of navigation systems for the three approaches required for the instrument cross-country under FAR 61.65(d)(2)(ii)(C)?
Answer
Previous legal interpretations did specify the use of three different navigation systems. The FAA recently released a memo rescinding those interpretations because "the regulation's plain language requires three different types of approaches, not three different navigation systems."
