Question of the Week
Question

I recently purchased an aircraft. What should I do if my temporary aircraft registration expires before I receive a certificate of aircraft registration?
Answer
The temporary registration is valid for 90 days. Those who recently purchased or transferred an aircraft can request a letter from the FAA to extend that temporary registration's validity. You must provide a fax number or email address for delivery of the letter, and the letter "must be carried in the aircraft with the pink or duplicate copy of the application." Flying without a valid registration is a violation of FAA regulations that may also void insurance coverage. (See the FAA website.) Join the discussion >
