| FAA seeks information from aircraft owners on certain Continental engines |
| The FAA published an airworthiness concern sheet seeking information from owners of Continental engines subject to a 2020 airworthiness directive: "The FAA has received multiple reports from the field of cracked cylinders despite prior compliance with AD 2020-16-11. The FAA is concerned that the corrective action contained within AD 2020-16-11 is not sufficiently resolving the issue, so the FAA needs additional input from the field." Read more > |

Question of the Week
|
Question
I was the pilot/owner of an aircraft that was damaged in an off-field forced landing following an engine failure. There were no injuries, but the aircraft was a total loss for insurance. I have put out feelers for renter's insurance, but I'm finding that because of the loss amount, I'm getting "decline to quote" responses. The accident is technically still being worked by the NTSB, but the FAA has closed its investigation and found no pilot fault. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions on where I might find a more receptive company to work with—or am I grounded for a long time or forever?
|
| Answer |
One pilot suggested contacting a broker who works with multiple insurers rather than attempting to consult individual insurance companies. Join the discussion >
