Final Exam
Question

I applied through IACRA for my student pilot certificate and received a notification several days later that a temporary certificate was available to print. Does this temporary certificate allow a student pilot to solo, or do I have to wait until the permanent plastic card arrives?
Answer
According to FAR 61.17, a temporary student pilot certificate is valid for 120 days or until you receive the plastic card from the FAA. Additionally, it is valid for all student pilot operations and privileges, including solo flying. You do not have to wait for the plastic card to arrive in order to solo. Join the discussion >
