Question of the Week
Question

I've heard that I need a radio license to fly internationally. Is this true? If so, where can I find more information?
Answer
Yes. When flying internationally you are required to have a Restricted Radiotelephone Operators Permit for yourself, and a Radio Station license for your aircraft. For more information about the requirements, see this AOPA Online page. The most convenient way to obtain the required licenses is to apply using the FCC's Universal Licensing System website.

This question and answer were provided by AOPA's Pilot Information Center. Got a question for our technical services staff? Contact AOPA.
