Question

Does a student pilot certificate have any ratings on it?
Answer
No. Student pilot certificates are issued without any ratings. It's all about the logbook endorsements because a student pilot certificate affords no privileges without them. No matter what a student's goal is, be it a sport, recreational, or private pilot certificate, he or she will start with a student pilot certificate and collect logbook endorsements as appropriate to reach that goal. This discussion is from our online Pilot Information Center, where you can ask questions, contribute answers, earn badges, and join our growing pilot community online. Did you know that student pilots who join AOPA are three times more likely to complete their flight training?
